Bruised and Battered, the Day After.

Snapshot_20140115_2

At least I don’t have a broken jaw.  I thought that might be a possibility the way things were going.  This is the results of having all my teeth pulled and dentures put in yesterday.  Now I can smile again. except, I think I forgot how.

No Bonnie Hunter Mystery for me yesterday.

This is how far I’ve gotten so far.  Still have more Birthday Girl blocks to make. I’ll be glad when I get this top done.  I feel like my current January projects are quickly becoming UFO’s.

Bathed and dressed for the day.  She got into the dog water this morning and got all wet.  Decided to give her a bath before putting dry cloths on her.

Road Trip

Finally finished the 60 “54 40 or fight” blocks for the Celtic Solstice Mystery.

Now I’m working on the Birthday Girl blocks.  I’ve got 9 blocks completed so far.

Jean, Nancy and I took a little road trip Saturday to Scarlett Thread in McDonough, GA to attend a Jenny Doan lecture and trunk show.  It poured down rain the entire drive down. It let up just as we got there, so at least we didn’t get drenched from the car to the shop.

We enjoyed the lecture.

Afterwards Jenny signed our copies of Quilting Quickly magazine. Then the shopping began.  I was able to get just about all of this year’s birthday fabric for the Needle Turners Bee on sale.  Still have one more to get and that is only because I decided to keep the pretty orange Argyle.  They had a really good sale on some Hoffman batik precuts, so I got 2 crackers (10” Sq.) and 2 snaps (5” sq.).  I hope to use them to make one of  Jenny Doan’s patterns.  I’m thinking maybe one that uses the half hexie template.

Thankfully the rain stopped by the time we were ready to leave.  We stopped for a late lunch at Truitt’s Chick-Fil-A restaurant.  It was a sit down restaurant with waitresses instead of the usual fast food restaurant.  It was very busy considering the time of day.  Luckily we just had a short wait for a table.

Chevrons are Finally Done!

I finished the chevron blocks from part 2 of the Celtic Solstice Mystery.  I think it took me a week of sewing to get all 244 of them made.

CelticSolstice6a  I even got 6 of the 54  40 or fight blocks made. Think making 61 of these will go a lot quicker than the chevron blocks.  Those go in the 2nd block.

Guess I will get to sewing.

Will I Ever Get Done?!

Will be working again today on Celtic Solstice.  I am making progress, but it seems like it is taking forever. It seemed like part 5 took a long time to complete, but I managed to get it done.  Then moved on to finish part 1.

CelticSolstice1c Part 1 went smoothly and didn’t take long to complete.  Then I started on part 2.  All I had done previously was cut the parts needed.  I started sewing and sewing and sewing…..

CelticSolstice2b And I’m still sewing.  Think this will be day 5. So far I have 56 completed chevrons.  Hope I can get these finished today.  I anxious to start putting the blocks together.  This quilt is made using two different blocks and is very pretty.  I am falling way behind on my other quilting.  Think I took on too many BOMs and quilt alongs.  Hopefully I can get caught up by the end of the month and things will go smoothly after that.

On a happy note, I got a pretty new ring.

RubyRing

I seriously doubt that the rubies are real, but it is a pretty ring and I will enjoy wearing it.  It was a fulfillment gift.
