Keeping Up

So far I am managing to keep up with all 11 BOMs and Quilt Alongs.

ViseVersaMarch

My March Vise Versa blocks. When I was trying to get caught up last month, I put this BOM off to do last, because I just couldn’t get into it.  Now I can’t figure out why.  I’m just loving these cute 9’ blocks.

EVQGMysteryClue2

Clue 2 of the Etowah Valley Quilt Guild Mystery.  Did these as my leaders and enders and managed to finish before clue 3 comes out next week.  I hope I can continue to do the clues as my leaders and enders.

MForMysteryMonth3

Month 3 of the M for Mystery BOM.  There are a lot of busy fabrics in this.  I am curious to see how it turns out.

I’m doing a really easy pattern for the first memory quilt.  Got all the parts cut and 5 of the blocks made.  It is a little early to tell how it is going to turn out.  There were a lot of knit and rayon fabrics. I had to back most of them with fusible interfacing.  I felt unsure about cutting up all those cloths.  It isn’t the same as cutting regular fabric.

Busy, Busy

My legs are sore this morning.  Did pump class yesterday.  We were supposed to go this morning but after three months away from the gym, exercising two days in a row is a little too much.

So far I’ve been keeping up with my current projects.

QuiltyFun16

Made spool blocks this week for the Quilty Fun Quilt Along.  This is going to be such a cute little quilt when it is finished.  I’ve been enjoying this project.

SewRetroKitchenJan-MarchSewRetroKitchenMarch

This month’s paper pieced block for the Sew Retro Kitchen BOM at Quiet Play is a bowl and wooden spoon.  I’m going through my uncut scraps for this one.  I’m thinking it will be mostly reds and blues.

I met the lady wanting the memory quilts yesterday.  We decided on a pattern for the first one and I came home with a bag of clothing, mostly knits.  I will be sorting through the cloths and planning out the quilt today.  First I will finish the March unit of M for Mystery BOM.  Didn’t quite get it finished yesterday.

Off To a Good Start in March

So far so good.  I’ve done 4 of the 5 blocks that came out on the 1st.  Printed the Quilty Fun directions that come out on Mondays.  I’m going to try to complete both today.  And of course tomorrow is another day with another quilt along block and a busy day for me.  Gym in the morning and meeting a client at 11:30 a,m.

The four monthly projects I’ve completed so far:

AurifilMarchGlobetrottingMarch

The first pictures is “Borders” the Aurifil BOM March block.  The second block is “Chicago” the Pat Sloan Globetrotting BOM for March. I’m not real happy with the fabric in the center, but don’t feel like trying to find another fabric and redoing the block.  Guess I will see how much it bothers me and if I have time to remake it before I use that fabric in another block.

PurpleSage7

Here is my Persimmon Quilts Purple Sage BOM for March. I’ll have to come up with my own name for this quilt.  Don’t think the “sage” works too well considering I used blue for the accent fabric.

TellItToTheStarsMarch

These are the Tell it to the Stars blocks for March.  This BOM is from Patchwork Times blog.

Guess I will eat a little something and then get busy quilting!

A New Month

Time to start all over doing this months blocks.

I just did get caught up in February.  Finished every thing up on the last day!  Feels good to be caught up on all my current projects.  Hope I can stay that way.

MForMysteryMonth1MForMysteryMonth2

These are the January and February units for the M for Mystery BOM.  The large scale paisley prints are what hooked me and so far I’m cutting them up too small to see the pretty design.

DelightfulStarsLesson6

Delightful Stars Lesson 6.  It is far from perfect, but I can live with it.  I aimed for accuracy, even ripped out a couple of things and tried again.  Then I settled.  I’m happy with it.

ScrapBusting1

These are my “Scrap Busting with Pat Sloan” blocks.  Her directions were for 20 blocks and making a throw size quilt with them.  I don’t need a quilt every month, so decided to do just 5 blocks a month and decided on down the row what to do with them.  I can always make more later if need be.

Had two people in one day call about making quilts and doing some quilting.  I meet the first customer on Tuesday to see what kind of clothing she has that she wants memory quilts made from.   The other lady has quilting she wants done. I told her it would be April probably before I would have time.  I’m supposed to call her.

Almost Caught Up

Just finished printing this weeks lesson for the Delightful Stars Quilt Along.  Will start cutting in a little bit.  Got the January M is for Mystery BOM cut and ready to sew.  Think I will be making 72 flying geese.  Sounds like that will take awhile.

LeaderEnderChallenge2013-2014a

Here are my split 9- patch blocks for the Leaders & Enders Challenge that Bonnie Hunter issued last summer.  I managed to make 157 blocks.  What ever size quilt I can get out of these blocks is what I’ll make.  Just can’t resist a challenge!  Don’t know when I’ll get around to putting the blocks together, but not before I get caught up on my current projects. I still have the Aiming for Accuracy top to finish.  I think by now it should count as an UFO, so I need to be working on it as part of Pat Sloan’s monthly UFO challenge.  I’ve been too busy playing catch up to worry about UFOs.

QuiltyFun15

This weeks Quilty Fun block is butterflies.  So I am caught up for the month on this one. Yeah!  Think March is the last month and then I will need to finish the top.  Challenge to myself; finish all current projects!  No more UFOs!  I already have enough thank you. Think most of my UFO work will be quilting completed tops so they can go in the guild quilt show this fall.

TellItToTheStarsJan&Feb

January and February blocks for Patchwork Times’ “Tell it to the Stars” BOM.  Another one that I’m caught up on.  I’m doing this one in yellows and gold with purple and red being the accent colors.  Hope I will like this combo.  I want to use different color schemes for each project.

Still Trying To Get Caught Up

SewRetroKitchenJan&Feb

Quiet Play’s Sew Retro Kitchen Jan. & Feb. blocks. This is a paper pieced BOM that  I’m doing. I’m not a big fan of paper piecing but thought one block a month to keep in practice wouldn’t hurt.

PurpleSage5&6I

Jan. & Feb. Purple Sage blocks.  I’m really liking the purple and gray.

ViseVersaJan&Feb

This is another fun BOM that I’m doing.  It is called Vise Versa.

DelightfulStarsLessons1-5

I finally got to start the Delightful Stars blocks.  Glad it is caught up.  This is a weekly Quilt Along.  The next block (lesson) will be out tomorrow.

Our guild is doing a mystery quilt this year.  We are doing one clue a month.  Gives us plenty of time to get each clue done.  I’m doing the first two clues as leaders and enders.

EVQGMysteryClue1

I finished the 1st clue this week end. Maybe I will get the 2nd clue done by the 2nd Tuesday of March.  There are a lot more half square triangles this clue than the first one.

I still have a couple BOMs to get caught up on besides keeping up with the two quilt Alongs.  Wait, think I decided to Do Pat Sloan’s scrap buster challenge/BOM.  Plus I’m supposed to be working on UFOs too each month. At least I won’t run out of quilting projects any time soon.

Catching Up

We have had snow twice this year!

JanuarySnow1JanuarySnow2

This is the first time it snowed. The roads were icy for a couple of days and driving was dangerous. People abandoned their cars.

  FebSnow6FebSnow7

The second time it snowed. The Grandkids enjoyed the snow. My husband’s son and grandson came up from Florida for a visit. It was Noah’s first time to see snow. It snowed February 11th and 12th and by Thursday evening the 13th it was gone. The roads weren’t as bad.  The road crews got out in a timely manner.

FebSnow1FebSnow3FebSnow4

This was the scene on Thursday morning before it warmed up and melted.  It was very pretty to look out at.

CelticSolsticeTop1CelticSolsticeTop2

I finally finished the Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice Mystery.  I made 121 blocks for the large king sized top and was able to make two tops, one queen size and the other a large throw size.  I’m glad to have them done.

Now I am playing catch up on all the Quilt Alongs and Block of the Months I’m trying to do.

AurifilJanandFebGlobetrottingJanandFeb

The red and gray are the Aurifil January and February blocks and the blue are the Pat Sloan Globetrotting Blocks for January and February. So far I am liking the blue.  Hope my blues will continue to work so well.  I am worried it will be too much blue.

QuiltyFun1-13

All caught up on the Quilty Fun Quilt Along at the Fat Quarter Shop until Monday when a new block is released.  This is really turning out cute.  I’m pleased with it so far.

That’s three down and seven to go!  Can’t believe I have that many projects all going at one time!  Maybe once I get caught up, I will be able to keep up.
